Stitchen" Time

My friends often ask me how on earth I manage to get so much sewing done each week, so I thought I'd share my secret.  Every weekend, after working a 40 hour week out, I need an afternoon to tackle my laundry.  Now, my washer and dryer happen to be down in the basement....not too far from my sewing room;) and being that I have a very bad left ankle, with much hardware in it, I can't being going up and down those stairs between loads....therefore, I hunker down in the sewing room for however long it takes to get the laundry done.  I get great fun in telling DH I'm heading down to do laundry, lol

Well yesterday was no different than any other weekend and here are the proceeds of my efforts .... more postcards:) of the Vintage/Shabby Chic style.   I just couldn't stop making these and would have made more, but alas, ran out of time!  Enjoy.

PS:  My inspiration for these came from a single embroidered hankie which appears in three out of four of these cards.

Oh yes .... more Postcards

Good Friday morning to you all ... doing the happy dance cause it's Friday.  That's mostly in my head ... lol.  Anyways, I haven't be typing much cause I've been stitching.  So this morning I have a couple of postcards to show you.  My hairdresser requested a special card for a wedding she is attending and wanted something that the bride and groom could keep and frame (hopefully).  So I  made a couple for her to choose from.  The first one I made was with my new shibori pleated silk I ordered on line and I love the ripple effects and the way it drapes across the card.  The pretty floral motif was from RavioleeDreams on Etsy.  I mounted on a piece of textured cotton that was up cycled from a blouse, which I dyed dark yellow.  The very tiny purple dragonfly came off a pair of earrings from a yard sale.  Ta Da .....

The next one was almost all up cycled from treasures I got at my local thrift store.  The first layer is a piece of white on white printed cotton, which was followed my a dyed doily, then a piece of white lace motif from a collar which I had stitched the centers of the two flowers.  The finishing touch is a piece of junk jewelry (brooch) that I cut the back pin off of and hand stitched it on.

Next week I'll get busy uploading my Silk Ribbon Embroidery assignments from Kathy Shaw's classes.  Hope you all have a  wonderful weekend.

Butterflies are a fluttering ....

I had an assignment to create a Butterfly postcard for August and couldn't stop at one ... ended up with three. lol

I finally got my new embroidery software figured out, after about a year or so of owning it.  Mostly time was my issue, as I just wasn't motivated to sit down and really figure it out.  Now there's no excuse to finish a project request from a friend.

Anyhow, here are my three postcards for your viewing pleasure.  Hope you all have a great day.
