Mixed Media Notecards

Time and again I find myself drawn to vintage pieces of lace and linens from days gone by.  I love the aged and worn look of these textiles and love to create with them ... giving them a new life so to speak. 

Back in the middle of summer I dabbled in the creating of these 3 mixed media notecards.

A Tranquil Moment This Weekend

I was fortunate to find this very delicate tatted doily at the thrift store this winter.  A wee bit boring in white, so I dipped it into the dye pot when I was doing a batch of turquoise bits and pieces.  I pulled it out of the box many times searching for other pieces but never really had a light bulb moment until I came across this double swan broach in a box of junk jewelry .... well a picture speaks a thousand words ..... and another productive weekend in the sewing room.

Something Finished and Something Started

Just a heads up ... my March CQJP block is finished and uploaded to the file.  I'm now ready to tackle the April block and plan on doing this theme until June and then I will change.  I'm thinking of maybe a softer pastel color palate.

 

Now ... for something I just started.  I have decided to do a bit of embroidery on this piece.  A pond and a bit of greenery perhaps... I'll be sure to post the finished piece when it's done.
