Time Flies .... and May is here!

Where on earth did April go ... just flew right by.  I kept meaning to stop by here and post a project.  There have been a few new ones and a few unfinished ones  that I pulled out of the archives to finish off.

I couldn't resist taking Kathy Shaw's free online Shabby Chic bag class.  Such a cute little frilly bag.  We started off by pulling from our stash some soft pastel color fabrics, thread, lace and embellishments.  Plus had to source out the perfect image for the center of the crazy quilted flap of the bag.  This is what I started with and then the bag evolved like magic:

The beautiful floral fabric in the center is what I choose for the main part of the bag.  A lovely piece I picked up at my local thrift store.  I pulled as many colors from this piece to assemble the crazy quilted flap with.

The image I choose for the center of the block I copied onto a piece of silk printable fabric and was perfect for this project.

The embellishments I played around with for several days finding the perfect fit.  It's nice to have a big selection to choose from.

This one ... or

... this one....

And finally picked this one and stitched up the seams with some pretty stitches and added some lovely silk roses.  So fun!

And then it was time to make all the pieces of the bag.  I added a nice pocket to the back  and used a pretty pink taffeta for the lining and the strap.

Voila a beautiful Shabby Chic Bag has been created. A one of a kind original which I gifted to my dear friend Mary for her 65th birthday the other day.

Thank you friends for stopping by and having a look.  I wish you all a lovely day.
Hugs

  1. So pretty! I'm not usually a fan of pink but in this case it's the perfect choice. Enjoy your new bag!
