Kathy Shaw's Silk Ribbon Embroidery Course

As promised here is my assignments from Kathy Shaw's silk ribbon embroidery class I took on line.  This was back in August and September, life got busy and I haven't had much time to blog so I'm doing some mass uploads of projects this week.

 This lovely arrangement of blossoms
I have show cased in a crazy quilted
decorative pillow, which I will post next week after I have taken some photos.

A grouping of blackberries which I used in a crazy quilted journal book cover.  (see journal book labels for photo)

A bird in a rose bush, which I made into a PC and sent to my niece Christine.

A dragonfly which I stitched onto an existing embroidered applique of some Alberta Roses.  This was also made into a postcard.

Another group of blossoms with embroidered leaves.  I used a pink marker to add a bit of color to the petal tips and pink floss and beads in the centers.

This pretty lady was a bit intimidating to stitch, the little red roses were stitched with 2mm silk ribbon.  She hasn't found her forever home yet.

Kathy had us use our imaginations and an assortment of various types of ribbon for this funky flower pillow.  I added a few buttons to fill in the spaces.  Now I just need a little granddaughter to gift it to :)

And what a great course to take if you have the opportunity and are interested in working with ribbon.  She is on line at www.shawkl.com

  1. Kathy's classes are great aren't they. I haven't taken this one, due in part to the sad lack of access to ribbon supplies here. I really love your white blossoms (apple blossoms I think!) in the first photo....so beautiful!
