Color Theory CQ Course 2018

I haven't been very good with step by step posting ... I'm just a lazy blogger ... but do love to share my finished blocks and projects.   Anyways, I will try to remember to share some step by step with this project... I'm really loving how it is coming together and the autumn colors are so wonderful to create around.

This is my canvas....I tried to remember the rule of three here.

Pulled out some lace pieces that appealed to me and the block.  If I use part of the yellow doily I will see if I can redye it more gold then butter yellow.  I really like the long row of green/yellow/orange leaves, so they will stay, the wispy falling leaves are staying and also the dragonfly which will not be in that corner. As I envision this block to be full when complete, there might be more to add yet.
Wait and see ;)

Gotta have charms ... love all these choices so we'll see which works.

Not a really good photo here, but ribbons and trim.  Haven't
made any choices yet.

A sneak peak of my progress overall.

This is my favorite ... a row of corn on the cob... lol!!

A row of tiny roses.

One lonely pumpkin ... more to come.

Brown leather flower trim with burgundy French knot center and silk ribbon leaves.

Variegated fern to fill this corner and you can see the penciled in acorn off to the side, yet to be stitched.

Cretan Stitch ... in progress .... What to do ... what to do here.  Any suggestions?

This seam is in need of some beads .... seam in progress

What do you think about my scarecrow?   LOL  I removed the dark green braid in the top right corner and am thinking of using a ribbon and creating a cluster here. Nothing is firm yet as I just have this pinned on right now.

Now to tackle that top left corner.  My first idea had been to do something with the pale yellow doily, so I tried to dye it gold and succeeded in dying it orange so tried to bleach it and finally just gave up.  So I finally decided to try my luck at silk sunflowers and my ribbon that I dyed did actually turn out gold so here's what I came up with:

The beads are actually gold as well just the photo doesn't do them justice.  Next up was some more bead work.

Also, worked on the spider web and placement of some lace motifs.

And the overall look

When I get the bead work finished I'll add the charms and ribbon cluster with the owl.

Finished at last
